Back to New Providence

One of the great things about our boat is the amazing community that comes with it. Amels are common enough that you come across them occasionally but uncommon enough that it is still exciting when you do see one, so when we anchored behind another Amel Super Maramu in the Exumas we couldn’t wait to say hi! Turns out they were from Switzerland and had sailed over from the Med and were planning on heading north at the same times as us. Perfect opportunity for some Super Maramu buddy boating.

We had some amazing winds heading up to New Providence. Ended up getting up to 9.5 kts under Genoa and Mizzen only at one point. It was awesome being able to discuss sail plans and other elements of our set up, while underway and in the same conditions on the same boat!

Sunrise departure.
Two Super Maramus!
Bit of a grainy action shot of our buddy boat.
Heavily reefed main and a cocktail flag still flying. I guess if somebody had managed to get on board during this we would’ve been obligated to make them a cocktail.
Later in the journey waves picked up and were crashing into the cockpit. Leaving our bridle on the foredeck to dry out didn’t really work out for us.
